That’s So Raven is about to make a comeback! A spinoff TV series has been announced starring original series actress Raven-Symoné.
According to Disney Channel, the That’s So Raven spinoff finds Raven as “a divorced mother to two pre-teen kids (a son and daughter), one of whom has inherited her ability to catch glimpses of the future.”
Adam Bonnett, executive vice president, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement, “Raven’s brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel’s success around the world. Her performance in That’s So Raven is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we’re looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family.”
Raven also announced today that she’ll be leaving ABC’s morning talk show The View in order to take on the new That’s So Raven TV show. Here’s her announcement, in which she reveals that one of her kids will be discovering they have supernatural powers:
That’s So Raven is still very popular. In its most recent midnight (MIDNIGHT) telecasts on Disney Channel, the series still delivered on average 1.057 million Total Viewers, according to Nielsen.
The series tried a spinoff, Cory in the House, in the year after Raven ended. It ran for two seasons.
Todya’s news reminds us of other recent successful spinoff series: Fuller House (based on Full House) and Girl Meets World (Boy Meets World).
