If you’ve been craving a full Pokémon MMO, then the latest monster capturing series Temtem may be your cup of tea.
As Pokémon majorly popularized the monster capturing and battling genre, the craving for a Pokémon MMO has been a hot fan request for some time now. The team behind Temtem has heard that request, and developed an MMO of its own flavor that is sure to appease any Pokémon MMO wish fulfillment.
While it is in no way related to the Pokémon series, Temtem borrows some main elements from the Pocket Monster brand. Players catch, train, evolve, breed, and battle cute creatures in a colorful overworld full of trainers (tamers) and family-friendly adventure.
However, Temtem ensures that it stands out from the crowd with not only its MMO features, but also its gameplay elements. Players will compete in double battles only, making battling a more strategic endeavor than series that follow a standard 1 v 1 format. Also, Temtem creatures have a stamina meter, thus further adding to a player’s battle strategy. If a Temtem runs out of stamina, they lose the will to fight in battle, and will faint.
The MMO elements of Temtem will operate in a standard fashion. Players will traverse a vast overworld in servers as other players complete missions, socialize, and work together to take down bosses and dungeons. An in-game chat function and emote system will operate as players’ main means of communication. As with most MMOs, players are able to play the game on their own, but the story will likely nudge co-op gameplay over single-player battles.
Temtem will soon be available for stress test beta sessions (sign up on their site here), and releases on Steam early access on January 21, 2020, with console releases and a full Steam release coming sometime in the future.
