Taylor Swift is bringing a bit of her Folklore magic to Disney+ in the form of a brand new concert film that’ll be premiering incredibly soon!
Touring might not be an option amidst the ongoing pandemic, but Taylor Swift is gearing up to give fans the next best thing.
On Tuesday (November 24), the singer announced the upcoming release of Folklore: The Long Ponds Studio Sessions— a brand new intimate concert film featuring Swift, Aaron Dessner (The National), Jack Antonoff, and a special guest appearance by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver).
Swift recruited the aforementioned musicians to help her create the album we now know as Folklore, which she surprise dropped this past summer. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic meant that Swift and her pals did all the recording for her latest album remotely, but the artists’ upcoming Disney+ concert special marks the first time they’ll all be in the same room together.
Filmed in upstate New York back in September 2020, the upcoming special (which premieres via Disney+ on November 25) will treat fans to performances as well as stories and secrets behind every song from the Grammy nominated album.
In addition to today’s exciting announcement, Disney+ also shared an official trailer for Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. The teaser offers up a few performances of tracks like the album’s lead track “Cardigan,” as well as the deeper cut, “August.”
“It’s an album that allows you to feel your feels and it’s a product of isolation,” says Taylor Swift at one point during the trailer. “This could have been a time where I absolutely lost my mind and instead I think this album was like a real floatation device for both of us.”
Directed by Taylor Swift, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions debuts exclusively via Disney+ on Wednesday, November 25.
