The 10 best (and worst) films of 2012 (so far)

It’s amazing we’re now halfway through 2012, a year that has offered plenty in the way of both blockbuster films and the smaller, more intimate indie fare. Taking that into account, it seems only fitting to offer up something a long the lines of a best of/worst of post for the first half of 2012.

Weekend Box-Office: ‘The Grey’ takes box office, ‘One for the Money’ takes Groupon

The weekend box-office totals are in, as Liam Neeson’s R-rated feature The Grey has taken the crown handily. One for the Money, based off the best-selling novel by Janet Evanovich, was hurt by a 3% Rotten Tomatoes score, yet managed third place thanks in large part to a Groupon deal. Hypable Movie Review: ‘Man on a Ledge’ is a thriller gone wrong

Man on a Ledge is an often preposterous, occasionally thrilling film with a ridiculous script and numerous supporting characters in need of more development. Director Asger Leth takes a new spin on the heist movie — adding in other well-known plot-lines, incorporating the classic revenge drama, and featuring a protagonist with nothing to lose — that fails altogether to deliver on an interesting premise.
