We’re getting our first look at Supernatural season 11, featuring the Winchesters and the fates of Castiel and Crowley.
Sam and Castiel, in particular, aren’t looking their best. Sam appears to be sporting the facial wound he suffered while confronting Dean in the season 10 finale. The brothers are also in the same clothes as the season 10 finale, indicating the season 11 premiere will likely pick up where season 10 left off.
Meanwhile, Castiel is suffering the effects of the attack dog spell Rowena cast on him to fight Crowley. (Crowley, we’ll also note, is alive — surprising no one.)

Says executive producer Jeremy Carver of season 11, “Castiel, first and foremost, has to find a way out of this spell that Rowena has cast on him. That’s not as easy as it may sound. Being under the influence of this spell, it’s going to lead him to some pretty uncomfortable situations.”
Crowley, meanwhile, will be facing his own issues despite surviving his confrontation with Castiel. In season 11, Crowley is “very much trying to figure out how he is going to navigate this new world where The Darkness threatens just about everything,” Carver teases.
As for the Winchesters, we learned at Comic-Con that season 11 will see Sam and Dean united against The Darkness.
Jared Padalecki says that “because the Darkness is so vast and seemingly insurmountable, the brothers are side-by-side [and] teamed up again. Which, for me, is badass. I love that part of Supernatural, when the brothers kind of team up and they roll and they sacrifice and they’re together.”
“I feel like it’s going to be a much more brother-centric kind of show this year,” Jensen Ackles adds.
Supernatural season 11 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
