Storm Reid is the latest actress to join the cast of the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.
Things are slowly moving forward behind the scenes on the upcoming sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad. In fact, it looks as though the James Gunn-helmed follow-up has just added another fresh face to its ensemble cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Storm Reid has officially joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.
The A Wrinkle In Time star’s involvement with the project makes her the latest in a string of new cast members who’ve been recently announced for the sequel.
Other new faces you’ll see when Suicide Squad 2 hits theaters include Idris Elba, John Cena, and David Dastmalchian.
They’ll be joining Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis, all of whom have signed on to return. They’ll be reprising their roles of Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller, respectively.
Gunn and everyone else involved on the project are keeping tight lipped with regards to plot details regarding the sequel. With that in mind, there’s currently no specific details with regards to what we can expect from Reid’s character.
That being said, it is being reported that she’ll be portraying the daughter of Idris Elba’s character.
Originally when Elba’s casting was announced, it was rumored that the Luther star would be taking over for Will Smith in the role of Deadshot.
However, back in April, it was confirmed that Elba wouldn’t be replacing Smith as the leader of the rag-tag bunch of villains. Instead, he’s reportedly signed on to play a new character.
As with Reid, there’s not much to go on with regards to who Elba’s character is, but it is interesting to learn that his daughter will play some sort of role in his character’s story arc.
