Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is bringing her powers to television in a new series called The Rook.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Rook focuses on a young woman who awakens in a London park. The girl has no memories, and no idea why she is surrounded by latex-gloved dead bodies.
Forced on the run, the girl is sucked into the realm of a supernatural secret service and pursued by arcane forces. Terrible betrayals and the shocking challenge of her own burgeoning powers round out the perilous journey.
The show has been ordered straight to series at Starz, and will air in 2018. Stephenie Meyer will be an executive producer on the project, and Stephen Garrett will serve as the showrunner.
Starz CEO Chris Albrecht calls The Rook “a high-end series aimed right at the sweet spot of our audience,” and promises big things from big names.

“The Rook is instantly addictive from the very first scene and introduces what we believe will be one of the most fascinating and thrilling female protagonists on television,” Albrecht says.
Stephenie Meyer, of course, is best known for her authorship of the best-selling Twilight Saga and its wildly popular film adaptation. She has also published two other novels, The Host and The Chemist. Stephen Garrett has worked as an executive producer on series like the BBC’s Spooks and AMC’s The Night Manager.
“Stephenie is one of the world’s great creative talents,” says Lionsgate Television Group chairman Kevin Beggs, “and Stephen has an incredible track record in bringing remarkable stories to the screen. The Rook is a major premium property driven by an amazing creative team.”
