The Tonight Show rounded up the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to perform the series’ iconic theme songs a capella.
Presented in a YouTuber-meets-Brady-Bunch fashion, Jimmy Fallon and his Tonight Show band The Roots performed the most memorable songs by composer John Williams a capella in this excellent, bound-to-be-viral video.
The performance begins with Jimmy and the Roots before the newer Force Awakens actors join the medley. All of the new faces including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Lupita Nyong’o are there. And yes, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, BB-8, R2-D2, C-3PO, a slew of Stormtroopers, and Chewbacca join in on the fun as well (though Mark Hamill, like in the posters and trailers, is missing).
Impressive! Editing this together must’ve been no easy feat — there are a lot of actors involved in this thing and they all had to be singing in time with one another.
Can we please get BB-8’s and/or Daisy Ridley’s vocals isolated and released as a single on iTunes?
Star Wars opens in theaters this Friday. So far, it sounds like the movie is really good.
