Having conquered PC, Xbox 360 and mobile devices, Minecraft is heading to PlayStation 4, Sony has announced.
Minecraft, the crafting and building game at the forefront of the resurgence in indie gaming, will be available to play on PlayStation 4 when the console launches later this year.

The PlayStation 4 edition on Minecraft will be the first time the game has been released on a Sony console, with Mojang having previously entered an agreement with Microsoft for Minecraft to be exclusive to their consoles for a limited time.
Mojang’s debut title has sold nearly 12 million copies on PC alone since its alpha first began in 2010. Pocket Edition sales have passed the 7 million mark, whilst the Xbox 360 release has been purchased over 8 million times.
Minecraft will join a whole host of other indie titles on the PlayStation 4, including Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Volume (from Mike Bithell, the creator of Thomas Was Alone), and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
The PS4 was first unveiled during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference. The console has an italicized equals sign look, and will retail for £349 / €399 / $399.
Preorders for both the PS4 and Xbox One have been performing exceptionally well. Many retailers, such as GameSpot and Amazon, are no longer taking further preorders for the next generation consoles.
