We’re officially in the promotional season for Solo: A Star Wars Story and Lucasfilm has revealed that one of its promotional partners will be Solo cups, because why not?
As we gear up for the May release of the Han Solo standalone film, we’re going to start seeing more and more Han Solo merch hitting the shelves in stores around us. But Disney and Lucasfilm made sure to let everyone know that they are most certainly taking advantage of the most obvious partnership around and bringing us some Solo Solo cups. What a time to be alive.

Deadline reports that Solo: A Star Wars story has struck up partnership deals with lots of brands you’d expect them to work with like General Mills, Nissan, and Esurance.
However, we’re most thrilled that they didn’t miss this wonderful opportunity to partner with the brand that not only shares the name of our favorite scruffy-looking nerf herder but also is the unofficial, international symbol for parties–something we think Han Solo would totally be on board with.
There’s no word on when the partnership will officially start. However, we’ve been promised that we won’t see advertising of Han hosting late-night parties on the Falcon while slamming drinks in red Solo cups (which is too bad since that would certainly help explain how Han got the Falcon to look so grungy after taking it from Lando).
So while we will likely not see any Han Solo Solo cup commercials, we’ll probably be getting some specialty Solo cups with Han, Chewie, Lando, and Qi’ra on them. The random merchandising partnerships are always one of the fun parts of a big franchise releasing, and we’re excited that Solo managed to snag such a no-brainer of a merchandising partner. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the new Solo Solo cups, if only because it’s just too much fun to say.
