SNL returned for its 44th season this week and brought along Matt Damon as Brett Kavanaugh.
With the drama surrounding the Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh this week, it was a no-brainer that SNL would try to incorporate it into its always-political cold open. The crowd went wild when Matt Damon walked through the doors as Kavanaugh. Former SNL cast member Rachel Dratch also appeared in the sketch as Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Check out the hilarious and timely sketch below.
This week Adam Driver hosted SNL for the second time in his career. He opened with a monologue about what the cast was up to over the summer.
Over the last year, the video game Fortnite has taken the world by storm, quickly becoming one of the most successful video games in recent memory. SNL took its turn at spoofing the craze, with Adam Driver’s character playing a dad who wants to get closer to his son through the game.
Of course, SNL made plenty of headlines over the summer as well, with cast member Pete Davidson not only breaking the news that he was dating pop star Ariana Grande, but that the two were engaged. Grande released her album “Sweetener” this summer which featured a track titled “Pete Davidson.” SNL’s Kyle Mooney jumped on the chance to spoof Davidson and make it a digital sketch.
Kanye West returned to the SNL stage as this week’s musical guest as well. Kanye performed the songs “We Love It” and “We Got Love” during the show. This time, during the “Goodbyes” at the end of the episode where the host thanks the cast and says goodnight, host Adam Driver threw to Kanye West one more time as he closed the show with one more song. Could this be a new tradition SNL will be incorporating to all future episodes? Check out Kanye West’s performances below.
Coming up on ‘SNL’
Hosts and musical guests have already been set for two more shows. Next week on October 6 Crazy Rich Asians star Awkwafina will host along with musical guest Travis Scott. The following week on October 13, Seth Meyers will host with musical guest Paul Simon.
