Smash will end its tumultuous season with yet another change. The season 2 finale will air on a Sunday instead of a Saturday.
The NBC musical drama started the season airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Earlier this month, it moved to Saturdays at 9 p.m. before moving to 8 p.m. It will be keeping its Saturday at 8 p.m. time slot until the finale, according to NBC.
The two-hour finale will air Sunday, May 26 at 9 p.m. EST.
Season 2 of Smash introduced new characters played by Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez and has featured many guest stars, including Bernadette Peters, Liza Minnelli, Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
NBC made the first move to Saturdays after seeing disappointing ratings for the show. Last week, Smash brought in 1.9 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen.
Up next for Smash is 2×13 “The Producers,” which will see morning television’s Kathie Lee Gifford guest star.
An off-the-rail Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan) threatens “Hit List’s” future, as Karen (Katharine McPhee), Derek (Jack Davenport), Ana (Krysta Rodriguez) and Kyle (Andy Mientus) try to help him before something bad happens. Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia’s (Debra Messing) partnership is strained to the breaking point just as Ivy (Megan Hilty), Eileen (Anjelica Huston), and the entire “Bombshell” team are running themselves ragged to outshine the competition. Jeremy Jordan and Leslie Odom, Jr. also star. Kathie Lee Gifford and Jesse L. Martin guest star.
Do you think this new move will help the show?
