Smash concluded its run on NBC after two seasons. Originally premiering with more than 11 million viewers, the show’s ratings decreased as the season went on. A shake-up behind the scenes led to creator Theresa Rebeck’s exit from the show, to be replaced by former Gossip Girls showrunner Josh Safran and the addition of Jeremy Jordan, Krysta Rodriguez and Andy Mientus.
However, by the season 2 premiere, viewership was down to almost 4.5 million and things only got worse. Ratings throughout the season continued to dip despite guest stints from Jennifer Hudson, Liza Minnelli, Jesse L. Martin and Daphne Rubin-Vega, leading to its banishment to Saturdays mid-season.
But Smash did get some recognition in the Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe nominations it received following its first season.
Now that it’s over, what will you miss most about the show?
