‘Sleepy Hollow’ adds John Noble to its cast

Sleepy Hollow had a wildly successful debut on FOX on Monday. Today they announced a fan favorite has been added to their cast, John Noble.

Many will recognize John Noble from shows such as Fringe, where he played the many versions of Walter Bishop, and as Denethor, Faramir’s father in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He will be joining Sleepy Hollow where he is slated to portray Henry Parrish, starting several episodes down the road.

As viewers who tuned in on Monday know, Sleepy Hollow features an epic conflict between the forces of good and evil. Given that Noble can play lovable and detestable with equal ease, what type of character will the veteran character actor be bringing to life?

According to Deadline, Henry Parish seems to be, at least on the surface, aligned with the “forces of good.” He is “…a kind and reclusive man who possesses supernatural powers that have the potential to help the series’ protagonist, Ichabod Crane.”

His casting shouldn’t be too much of a surprise as the Sleepy Hollow showrunners, Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, are also the creative masterminds of Fringe. They would, of course, want to work with one of their biggest assets again.

As for why Noble wanted to take part in Sleepy Hollow, when asked in an interview on Collider earlier this year what attracted him to his most iconic roles of Walter Bishop and Denethor, it wasn’t the supernatural element. He stated, “I think main storylines are what always intrigues me, with those that were the relationships between the characters against whatever backdrop, whether it was in an ordinary universe or a universe in the future. I think the glue that held Fringe together was the relationships.”

What do you think John Noble will bring to ‘Sleepy Hollow’?
