Since its premiere in Toronto nearly two months ago, David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook has catapulted to the forefront of Oscar talk, particularly for lead actress Jennifer Lawrence. A brand new clip from the film has surfaced online, giving a glimpse of Lawrence and Bradley Cooper chatting in a diner.
The clip does a nice job of not trying to do too much, merely highlighting the clear chemistry between Lawrence and Cooper, not to mention their acting chops.
Silver Linings Playbook is based on Matthew Quick’s debut novel. Pat Peoples, the endearing narrator of this touching and funny debut, is down on his luck. The former high school history teacher has just been released from a mental institution and placed in the care of his mother. Not one to be discouraged, Pat believes he has only been on the inside for a few months — rather than four years — and plans on reconciling with his estranged wife. Refusing to accept that their apart time is actually a permanent separation, Pat spends his days and nights feverishly trying to become the man she had always desired.
Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver), Chris Tucker (Rush Hour), Julia Stiles (The Bourne Ultimatum), and Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) also star in the film, also written for the screen by Russell. You can also check out the first official trailer or the poster for Silver Linings Playbook to get an even better sense on what to expect from the film.
Hot off a major festival run, Silver Linings Playbook is headed into theaters Nov. 21, where we can expect to see The Weinstein Co. continue a major awards push for the film, which features talent that are regular Oscar draws, from the director on down to the actors.
