Today the Shadowhunters took over New York Comic-Con by debuting six minutes of footage and announcing a premiere date for the highly anticipated series.
The panel began with the audience getting their first look at the pilot. The footage depicted the very important Pandemonium club scene. For fans of the book this scene has some different elements, but it still looks really cool.
You can watch the second clip right here.
As you can see from the footage Clary and Jace’s first encounter is full of sass and sets up the relationship between the two characters. The initial action sequence with Alec, Jace and Izzy stalking their prey gives viewers an insight into just how powerful the Shadowhunters are. Some of the biggest changes in the scene occur inside the club where Clary takes a more active role in the action and we get our first look at Magnus Bane, the club’s owner. The most notable change is the presence of the Circle members.
This brief clip is filled with action and will hopefully appease die hard fans and attract a new audience.
At the panel it was also announced that Shadowhunters will premiere on January 12 in the 9 p.m. time slot after Pretty Little Liars. Also announced was a special, “Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters” to air on December 6 at 9:30 p.m.
“Beyond the Shadows” will give fans of The Mortal Instruments book series a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of the television show, which will include the cast talking about how they landed their roles and a glimpse into how the cast got into fighting shape. And for viewers who are new to the Shadow World, the cast explains what “Shadowhunters” is all about.
