Following the late-breaking news, the Shadowhunters cast (and many, many fans) express their feelings on the series’ cancellation.
As the news of Shadowhunters end hit fans, the cast and crew were also receiving notice that beyond an additional two-hour finale, their time playing, writing, dressing, constructing these characters would be coming an end.
Sure, it’s not ideal for anyone’s show to receive an abrupt cancellation. But in this case at least fans can take solace in the fact that with two additional hours, the network is leaving room for the creators to send Shadowhunters out on its own terms.
And I say fans can take solace. Not that they should. The news is disheartening to say the very least. Season 3A took the series in an entirely new direction, one that took character studies over demons and introduced some of the most interesting story arcs of the series.
The pride and love for the series is felt in every tweet from the cast, crew, and fans of the series. Over night the outpouring of love for the series is leaving its mark on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. It will be interesting to see where the conversation takes us in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
But for now, let’s bask in the gratitude and love for Shadowhunters with our ShadowFam.
‘Shadowhunters’ cast reacts to cancellation news
The stars of the series took to social media to express their feelings on the loss of the series. While no one was ready to say goodbye, gratefulness for the opportunity to be a part of this world was felt across the board.
Not ready to say goodbye … Xo

The writers, producers, and crew respond
The show does not exist without the talented writers, directors, producers, and crew members. They gave us the show we fell in love with, the new story directions, and most importantly the final edited cuts (and many, many, behind the scenes footage shots) we’ve enjoyed over the past three seasons.
Shocked and saddened. So proud of this show #shadowhunters
