Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is the newest Hannibal season 2 casting addition, joining the show in a recurring role.
Cynthia Nixon joins the NBC thriller in a recurring role that will see her working closely with Laurence Fishburne’s Jack Crawford.
According to TV Line, Nixon will play Crawford’s boss, Kade Prurnell, from the Office of the Inspector General in FBI Oversight. Prurnell has been called in to investigate the events of the first season (presumably Will’s craziness and subsequent arrest), and to assess Crawford’s responsibility.
Nixon is most well known for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes on the Sex and the City TV series, and subsequent films. More recently she has appeared on The Big C, 30 Rock (as herself), and World Without End.
Hannibal season 2 will see the return of stars Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen and Caroline Dhavernas.
The first episode of season 2 will be entitled “Kaiseki”, which is a traditional Japanese style of eating. This sees the thematic continuation of the season 1 episode titles, which were all French food-related terms.
