HBO Max is going back for second helpings of Selena Gomez’s Selena + Chef.
According to Deadline, HBO Max announced on Thursday (August 27) that it has opted to renew Selena + Chef for a second season.
The unscripted series is billed as a quarantine cooking show, which finds singer and actress Selena Gomez experimenting in the kitchen. As she cooks her way through a variety of dishes, Gomez is guided by an array of professional chefs, all of whom are on hand to virtually walk her through each step of the recipe.
Cooking with the help of some of the best chefs around might not seem like much of a challenge, but as Gomez teased in the trailer for Selena + Chef when it first dropped earlier this month, she’s “not the best cook.”

Though the series features a lot of Gomez having fun in the kitchen as she tries her hands at new recipes, there’s also a conscious element to the show; each chef who appears also uses their episode to raise awareness for a charity of their choice.
Some of the master chefs who made appearances as part of the unscripted cooking show’s first series include Antonia Lofaso, Ludo Lefebvre, Roy Choi, and Tanya Holland.
There’s no word yet on the next crop of chefs that’ll be on hand to help Gomez continue on her cooking journey, but it’s clear the pop star is looking forward to getting back into the kitchen nevertheless.
“Learning from some of the best chefs in the world has vastly improved my cooking skills but I have a lot more to learn,” said Gomez in a statement. “I am looking forward to challenging myself in the kitchen on the next season.”
Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Selena + Chef season 2 to debut via HBO Max.
