Who run the world? The ladies of Scandal that’s who. Here are 15 things to remember before tonight’s season 7 premiere.
The final season of Scandal is upon us. What is in store? Not even the cast knows! But before we move forward into the Mellie Grant administration, let’s remind ourselves how we got here.
Last season of Scandal was a bit like Groundhog Day. For the first few weeks the shortened season focused on election night and the murder of the President-elect Frankie Vargas. Was Cyrus guilty? Or was Abby to blame? Maybe Mellie’s hands were tied? Could Jake’s hands actually be clean?
Yes and no to all of the above.
The timeline finally jumped forward revealing the puppet masters, Samantha Ruland and Theodore Peus. Remember those two? The worst of the worst. Their end game was to run the country from behind the scenes with Mellie as their puppet.
But Mellie would not stand for that and neither would Olivia Pope. Scandal season 6 gave us a new Olivia. An Olivia who nearly admitted defeat. Still reeling from the unaddressed trauma of killing the Vice President, Liv finally began to examine whether or not everything she was doing was actually worth the cost.
“It’s the White House. You don’t just move on. You don’t walk away.” – Olivia
This moment of reflection also hit Rowan hard this season. As an old flame died because of his action, he spent weeks in captivity praying that he did not open a box with Olivia’s head in it. Self-described as “smart prey,” is Rowan truly smart enough to walk away from the new predator in season 7?
Who is that predator? Olivia.
With OPA now officially QPA, Quinn and Abby run the white-hat show from Liv’s old stomping grounds. And Quinn plans to truly keep QPA a family affair, as she and Charlie are not only engaged, but are expecting their first child. This leaves Huck a bit miserable, but still committed to the team.
As for the rest of the gang — Cyrus is back in the White House, Mellie is in the Oval, Fitz is off in Vermont running a foundation or making jam or something, and Jake is smoothly killing Vice Presidents and enjoying a quiet lonely life.
There are a few questions we will need answered in the final season.
Burning questions for ‘Scandal’ season 7
- Will Jake and Rowan have brunch together?
- What is Jake’s role in B613?
- What are Liv’s plans for B613?
- How will Quinn and Charlie handle being parents?
- Will Huck find happiness?
- Can Abby handle playing along with Quinn as second-in-command?
- How long until Rowan comes out of retirement?
- What flavor of jam is Fitz’s favorite?
- What does Cyrus Beane ultimately want?
- How long until someone finds out that Luna was murdered?
- Can Jake have a fulfilling story arc? Will also accept just scenes of him eating.
