Rian Johnson posted a great video of legendary composer John Williams conducting an orchestra as they record the Star Wars theme.
Almost nothing is as iconic as the Star Wars theme song. It’s one of those tunes that you can name after hearing only the first note in the song (of course, that first note is a pretty in-your-face one, but still), and it has the ability to evoke emotion from almost any Star Wars fan.

However, most of us are only used to hearing the song as it backs up the iconic Star Wars opening crawls, or at home as we’re listening to the soundtrack. Seeing John Williams conduct an orchestra to bring the song to life, however, is something that not everyone has gotten to experience.
While we obviously can’t get you into Williams’ next recording session for Star Wars: Episode IX, Last Jedi director Rian Johnson posted a video that can help us pretend we’re there in person, at least.
It’s kind of exciting getting to watch Williams bring one of the most iconic songs to life right in front of our eyes. There’s just something particularly special about seeing this part of the production process. It’s also really cool to see the sheer number of talented musicians that come together to make songs from the Star Wars soundtrack the brilliant pieces of music that help carry us to our favorite galaxy far, far away.
We can’t wait to see what new music Williams comes up with for Episode IX. Until then, we’ll just enjoy the exisiting Star Wars soundtracks!
