Deadline reports that author Ernest Cline’s highly anticipated sequel, Ready Player Two will officially debut on November 24, 2020 in North America.
The science fiction sequel is set to be published by Penguin Random House’s Ballantine Books imprint.

Cline’s first book debuted back in 2011 and introduced readers to Wade Watts, a teen living in the year 2045 in a dystopian America where most individuals choose to spend their lives in a virtual universe called the OASIS.
Like a fair few, Wade spends his days searching for clues left behind by OASIS founder James Halliday in hopes that he might someday
Uncover the Easter Egg Halliday well hidden somewhere within the virtual world. Wade’s life gets upended when he finally stumbles upon the first clue— a key which opens the gate that leads him on a wild hunt for Halliday’s treasure.
Cline’s bestselling book was also adapted for the big screen back in 2018 in a film helmed by Steven Spielberg which starred Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, TJ Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance.
With the release of Cline’s Ready Player Two just around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see if Hollywood bites and decides to option the author’s second book for yet another big screen adaptation.
