Quantico season 2 has been great so far, but there are a few elements from season 1 that we can’t help but miss.
The mystery is just as complicated, the people are just as beautiful, and the lessons are just as interesting, but some of our favorite things from the first season of Quantico are definitely absent in the sophomore season.
Of course, there are a lot of things that are even better in season 2. There’s even more diversity, better LGBTQ+ representation, and way less soap opera-esque relationship drama. Season 2 continues to keep us on our toes every week, wondering what we’ll learn about the AIC and the characters who are potentially involved.
When the NATs graduated from Quantico, it was inevitable that some things were going to change. They grew up so much during all the drama that unfolded in season 1, so of course, they were all ready to move on to bigger and better things.
We can accept that things are different for the Quantico characters now, and we can definitely learn to love the new characters just as much, but that doesn’t mean we have to forget the things that we loved before. Here are a few of the things we’re missing most in season 2.
1. Miranda’s motivational speeches
Miranda’s potential (almost definite) involvement with the AIC is really messing with our heads. In Quantico season 1, Miranda was the voice of reason. She was always giving the NATs useful information to guide them through their training and she was with Alex from the very beginning of the Grand Central situation.
The scenes in which Miranda decided to impart her wisdom to Alex and the other trainees were some of the best of the first season. Her experience of being a “woman in a man’s world” was so valuable to Alex, but also motivational to viewers who might have similar aspirations. Now that Miranda could be on the bad side, we don’t know who to trust!
2. Quantico
It all seemed so simple when they were back at Quantico. The classroom full of fresh faces, eager to prove themselves, the blue and khaki uniforms, the insane amount of scenes in the locker room… how can we not miss that?
The Farm has its own, very interesting atmosphere, and we love watching Alex, Ryan and the other recruits trying to navigate their lessons, but Quantico was our introduction to the series and we’ll always have a soft spot for it!
3. Will Olsen’s innocence
After we got past Will’s suspicious photo drawer, he quickly became one of the most lovable characters on the show. So, obviously, we were thrilled to see him pop up again in Quantico season 2!
Will is absolutely brilliant and extremely socially awkward, but he always treated his friends with such love, respect and loyalty. The fact that he was so morally good and innocent made it even more heartbreaking to watch Caleb assault him for the sake of their mission.
In Quantico season 2, it seems like Will is an entirely different person. Yes, his scenes with Harry are on fire, and we wouldn’t give them up for anything, but to see Will lying to Shelby and potentially working for the bad guys is too much to come to terms with. He went through a lot in season 1, so it’s understandable that he’s changed, but we miss the Will that was loyal to our side!
4. The friendships
The NATs at Quantico were classmates and comrades. Sure, there were some rivalries that sparked throughout their training, but at the end of the day, they were all in it together. The Farm is a completely different beast.
Even if the other recruits had any interest in being friends with Alex and Ryan, they’re there working a mission for the FBI, so actually developing a bond with anyone would be a huge mistake. The tension between all of the Farm recruits during the hostage situation is very telling of the difference between them and the NATs. Ryan and Raina are working together to figure things out, but the Farm recruits couldn’t be less interested in talking to each other.
Quantico season 1 showcased amazing friendships like that of Alex and Shelby, Alex and Simon, and Caleb and Will, just to name a few. Even the few pairings that are left have very little interaction in season 2. We miss seeing these guys just be friends!
5. Caleb’s sense of humor
There are a lot of funny characters in Quantico season 2, but none that can quite match Caleb’s particular, sarcastic, pop-culture-reference laden brand of humor. For more on why we miss Caleb, click here.
6. Meeting allies and enemies on the run
When Alex escaped from Grand Central, one of her first missions was to find someone she could trust. She met Ryan, Simon, Shelby, Caleb and many others along the way. Sure, we never really knew who we could trust, but Alex didn’t either, and that was part of the fun.
In the hostage situation, Alex is completely alone. Not only that, but instead of fleeing through the suburbs of New York, she’s trapped in a building. It’s interesting to see how she operates in close quarters with her enemies, but it would be cool to see more of her classmates, from either Quantico or the Farm, interacting with her.
7. The twins switching places
From what we’ve seen so far in Quantico season 2, one of the twins could be dead. We’ve only seen Nimah in the Farm timeline, and we’ve only seen Raina in the future timeline. Hopefully they’re both still alive and well (for now, anyway) but if they are, why are they never together?
It was so cool to see them work together, and grow to compromise with each other in season 1. When they’re working as Miranda intended, they’re pretty much unstoppable, and can do things that nobody else can. Hopefully they both make it out of this crisis alive so we can see them work together again in the future.
8. Simon Asher, Drew Perales and Natalie Vasquez
We still have three holes in our heart for the characters that we lost in Quantico season 1. Well, 2.5 holes, since it still isn’t confirmed that Drew is dead! He could pull a Will Olsen and make an extremely miraculous recovery, but we’re not holding our breath.

Simon, Natalie and Drew were all great characters who added a lot to the series, so of course we miss watching them and attempting to figure them out. Also, honorable mentions go out to Liam, Elias and Charlie if you miss them too!
