PS5 devkit photo gives us a better look at the v-shaped prototype console

The PS5 devkit looks a bit funky, and likely represents a much different look than the final build of Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, but is nonetheless cool to see.

Meant for developers to help them craft games for the console’s release, the PS5 prototype console, not meant to be seen by the public eye, has been leaked.

The leaked PS5 devkit featured a giant v-shaped divet in the center, thought to represent a Roman Numeral V. Vents line the inside of the V, along with a silver and black dual-tone look to the outer shell.

On the front of the console, the PS5 prototype houses five USB ports, what looks to be a camera, buttons to turn the console on, reset it, and eject a disc, along with a system and network status display.

Back in October, a clearer picture of the PS5 devkit was leaked, giving us a closer look at the prototype Sony console.

While we don’t know which development team leaked the latest photos of the PS5 prototype console, it’s likely only a matter of time until Sony puts two and two together and figures it out for themselves.

For a point of reference, here’s a close up look at both the PS4 and PS4 Pro devkits.

The PS5 will house a solid-state drive, and will be backward compatible with PlayStation 4 games. Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 console will release in the holiday season of 2020. A price range for the PS5 has yet to be announced.
