Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, whose many upcoming projects include Baywatch and Jumanji, is ready to reboot the presidency.
Body builder. Wrestler. Actor. Producer. Singer. Alarm Clock. And… President?
In an interview with British GQ, Dwayne Johnson candidly discusses the possibility of entering into politics.
“I’ll be honest, I haven’t ruled politics out,” he says. “I’m not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first.”

And with all those movies he’s developing, has a lot to do first. He’s currently filming Fast and Furious 8, after wrapping up production on the Baywatch reboot. He’s doing two more Journey to the Center of the Earth installments, along with Jumanji, and Shazam! — and these are just a few of his upcoming projects!
The Rock’s never been shy about political activism, however; he founded a charity called The Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, and has been involved with many other charities, including I Have a Dream Foundation, Kids Wish Network, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Make The Difference Network, Parkinson Society Maritime Region, and the Red Cross. He’s passionate about good causes, and positively engages with fans on a larger scale than most big Hollywood types might be inclined to do.
And of course he’d hardly be the first celebrity to ascend on the political stage, with President Regan, Clint Eastwood, Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger being some of the most notable actors-turned-politicians. Actors are already so entrenched in political debates, with the media hardly able to distinguish between the two fields, so perhaps it’s only a matter of time before the barriers break down completely.
And let’s just put it this way: We could think of worse celebrity presidents than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
