Hosted by Selina Wilken, Sonya Faria, Kristen Kranz

January 12, 2013

A The Vampire Diaries spinoff featuring Joseph Morgan and Phoebe Tonkin? Are we dreaming?! Also, there are finally more news about NBC’s upcoming Dracula show! We discuss both of these upcoming vampire series in this week’s episode of the Vampire Hype podcast.

The Vampire Diaries spinoff discussion:
Klaus and… Hayley?!
– Will this show even be picked up?
– Dance of joy for Phoebe Tonkin!
– Sonya has a great theory about why Hayley goes with Klaus
Klaus: Vampire Detective
– This is obviously Angel all over again… but that’s not a bad thing
– Can Klaus carry a show?
– What other Originals will join Klaus on The Originals? Rebekah, surely? Hello, H2O reunion
– The Originals leaving Mystic Falls: a good or a bad thing for The Vampire Diaries?
– Re-vamping The Vampire Diaries
– Caroline following Klaus onto The Originals: yay or nay?
– What other main TVD characters might cross over to the new show?
– Who is this Marcel person anyway?
– We can already speculate about potential romances… but it can’t be Hayley/Klaus cause their shipper name would be, er, lousy
– Listener feedback: the fandom is split

Dracula news discussion (begins at 27:50):
– Remember back in July when was talk about a show about Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers? No? Well, it’s apparently scheduled for the 2013 fall season
– Will it be too high concept to succeed on network TV? Look at Awake
Sherlock-esque? Steampunk? Could be interesting if audiences give it a chance
– It’ll need to put an original spin on the Dracula story, or else this is gonna be another Camelot
– Why is there still so little hype about this show?
– Can it succeed on NBC? We use Grimm as an example of why it might work
