Episode #77 – Hogwarts Calls For Aid

Hosted by Selina Wilken, Marama Whyte, Pamela Gocobachi

December 9, 2015

This week’s Hype Podcast topics include Batman v Superman and Wonder Woman, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Wizarding World LA, and The Hunger Games spinoffs.

How We Hype:
– Marama has read ALL THE BOOKS! Specifically, celebrity memoirs she recommends for the holiday season
– Selina has read just one book, advises would-be Illuminae readers to get the physical copy, not the e-book.

News:
– We discuss the Batman v Superman trailer — or, as Marama calls it, Wonder Woman and Her Two Friends
– The beacons are lit! The Wizarding World in LA has an opening date! Yay for Americans
The Force Awakens news roundup: No post-credits scene, no Jar-Jar. And the first two words of the movie have been revealed!
– The Civil War featurette is just more proof that the Russos know what they’re doing, and we’re happy
– The Game of Thrones season 6 teaser trailer reminds us that we know nothing
– If Lionsgate gets their way, Hunger Games will live on and on and on… feeding off the BLOOD OF CHILDREN or something
– Telltale Games announces Batman game, exciting!
– Coldplay set for Superbowl half-time
– DJ Earworm’s United States of Pop 2015 single is pretty great.

TV Show of the Week:
– Both Selina and Marama have watched the Doctor Who finale. Apparently it’s better if you haven’t watched any of the season at all… but we’re still pissed about Clara
– Pam is on a Gossip Girl binge, and the rest of the panel are totally enabling her addiction.

Listener Feedback:
It’s the EMAIl edition! Because we had a lot of emails we didn’t realize were new. We tackle feedback for our Hunger Games and Buffy Specials, and read out some listeners’ fandom dreams. We also discover that Shana and Shauna aren’t the same person, fun times.
