Hype #102: Hype-ception

Hosted by Pamela Gocobachi, Kristen Kranz, Mikey Bouchereau

June 13, 2016

We’re back with another jam-packed episodes of Hype! Selina, Kyle and Marama are still away, but Pam and Kristen are still here to hold down the fort and bring you the latest news on Star Wars, Moana, Supergirl and more!

• Pam and Kristen welcome this week’s guest host, Mikey, from Hypable’s Resistance Radio to the show!
• We kick things off with our signature How We Hype special: Kristen can’t get enough of Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, Mikey’s got some really cool news regarding a live Resistance Radio show at this year’s IndyPop Con, and Pam bends the rules a bit when she hype’s Selina’s Hype Special with Merlin and Versailles actor Alexander Vlahos!
Harry Potter is back at it’s rightful place at the top of the show this week thanks to J.K. Rowling who puts black Hermione haters in their place, and also reminds fans to #KeepTheSecrets in lieu of Cursed Child preview performances starting up in London.
• ‘Hamilton’ star and Tony Award nominee Phillipa Soo is heading to Disney’s Moana and we’re totally here for it!
• We discuss the hot topic of the news that Star Wars’ Rogue One is heading into reshoots and Mikey explains why this isn’t necessarily something we should be too worried about.
• John Boyega has officially signed on to star in the Pacific Rim sequel, something that Kristen is super excited about.
• In super hero news, Florence Kasumba joins Wonder Woman and Chris Evans is totally down for Brie Larson to potentially take on the role of Captain Marvel
• Pam updates us on the latest James Bond casting news– spoilers: it’s not looking good for fans of Tom Hiddleston who were hoping he’d be the next 007
• We discuss Elizabeth Banks’ decision to step down as director of Pitch Perfect 3 and Mikey brings up a good point about the third installment of the series choosing to go head to head with Star Wars at the box office when both inevitably open
Quantico adds Looking‘s Russell Tovey to its season 2 cast and Pam couldn’t be more excited because, THE HISTORY BOYS.
• Superman’s coming to Supergirl! But really, we’re all just hoping Tom Welling will get cast to reprise the role of Clark Kent!
• Gillian Andersen joins American Gods, something that reminds Kristen that she really, really wants to read Neil Giaman’s book!
• In TV Show of the Week, UnREAL is BACK! Kristen discusses the season 2 opener and we all agree the show is off to a great start this year. Meanwhile, Mikey’s been digging Silicon Valle and Stargate Atlantis, and Pam makes a plea as to why everyone should really be watching Girl Meets World.
• We wrap up the show by reading YOUR listener feedback!
