Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is being honored this International Women’s Day with her very own Barbie Doll.
Barbie is working hard to use its brand to not only empower girls but to also highlight those role models that they can look up to. For International Women’s Day, the brand will be launching a line of dolls based on real-life women. In years past, the line has honored women like ballet dancer Misty Copeland and Ava DuVernay, and this year Patty Jenkins will be receiving her own doll.
Jenkins took to Twitter to express her excitement over being included in the line, and she even gave us a close up of what her doll looks like. Obviously, the Patty Jenkins doll comes equipped to help bring blockbusters to life.
Can't express how totally mind blowing and delightful it is to have your childhood favorite resemble you!! Thank you @Barbie, for this incredible honor, and for celebrating all kinds of women, everywhere. What a great way to inspire the girls of tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/X5FteJQltn

Of course, Jenkins is only one of the amazing women featured in this line of dolls. Frida Khalo, Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, and Chloe Kim are just a few of the others rounding out the list. Barbie released a brief video to celebrate some of the women being honored this year.
In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, we are committed to shining a light on empowering female role models past and present in an effort to inspire more girls.

As SVP and GM of Barbie Lisa McKnight told Glamour Magazine, these dolls aren’t just cute collector items. They’re meant to inspire the girls who see these dolls by showing them from filmmaker to fine artist to scientist and beyond, they can be anything.
“As a brand that inspires the limitless potential in girls, Barbie will be honoring its largest line up of role models timed to International Women’s Day, because we know that you can’t be what you can’t see. Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie, and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything.”
This line will launch just in time for International Women’s Day, and we’re so excited that amazing women like Patty Jenkins are being celebrated in such an inspiring line.
