Orphan Black may have finished its five-season run on BBC America, but we are still going to get new clone content in the form of audio dramas.
A publishing startup called Serial Box is giving the world a precious gift in the form of new Orphan Black content. The company will be releasing new, serialized audio dramas in the Orphan Black universe, and they will be narrated by the queen herself, Tatiana Maslany.
As The Verge reports, Serial Box releases novel-length seasons of a story that are broken up into episodes. So engaging with a Serial Box story will feel more like engaging with a TV show rather than a novel.
The company will be releasing just such a story with Orphan Black: The Next Chapter, which will be set eight years after the events of the series finale. The story will follow the same characters as the show, and as Serial Box explains “The story will take fans in some unexpected directions, and there are a lot of treats along the way that harkens back to previous seasons.”
In addition to Maslany, Orphan Black: The Next Chapter will also feature the voice of Malka Older who worked on another Serial Box project, Ninth Step Station. Mishell Baker, Lindsay Smith, and Heli Kennedy, Madeline Ashby and E.C. Myers are on board as writers, and the series is expected to release later this summer.
Though Serial Box got its start bringing original content into the audio world, it has just recently begun exploring the world of expanding the world of licensed IP — specifically, the Marvel Universe. Serial Box has released audio dramas surrounding beloved Marvel characters like Thor, Jessica Jones, Black Panther, and Black Widow.
We are so excited to see how life has changed for the clones over the past eight years. Plus, with the Serial Box audio drama coming alongside AMC’s announcement that they plan to develop a new series set in the Orphan Black universe, we’ve got a wealth of Clone Content coming our way.
