Ava DuVernay and HBO Max are teaming up for One Perfect Shot, a brand new docuseries sure to pique the interest of cinephiles far and wide!
HBO Max has given the green light to One Perfect Shot, a brand new unscripted documentary series that will find some of Hollywood’s most acclaimed directors walking movie lovers through just how they went about creating one of the most iconic shots in their repertoire.
The idea for One Perfect Shot was inspired by a popular Twitter account of the same name. The newly minted streamer will be working with Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Ava DuVernay to bring the docuseries to fruition.
For her part, DuVernay will serve as an executive producer one the project. She’ll also serve as narrator for the unscripted series.
In a statement announcing her involvement, the filmmaker explained that she’s been longing to work on a project like One Perfect Shot for quite some time.
“I’ve long wanted to create a series about the art of directing. To chronicle the craft of great filmmakers is a dream come true for me and all of us at ARRAY Filmworks,” said Ava DuVuernay. “We’re thrilled that our partners at Warner Horizon Unscripted Television embraced this idea and look forward to fully geeking out over movies with our friends at HBO Max.”
Each episode of the forthcoming docuseries will find a different acclaimed director literally walking viewers through exactly how they captured the iconic shot they’ll be breaking down.
Per HBO Max’s description of the new series, they’ll use “state of the art technology, the directors will literally enter each shot, walking through the scene in 360 moments that allow viewers to join an immersive exploration of moviemaking.”
In addition to breaking down their own monumental shots, each episode will also find a different director discussing one shot from another helmer who “deeply influenced them, outlining the inspiration that catalyzed their own imagination.”
Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Ava DuVernay and HBO Max’s One Perfect Shot to premiere.
