‘One of Us is Lying’ series adaptation coming to Peacock

The bestselling YA novel, One of Us is Lying is about to get the adaptation treatment over at NBC’s streaming service, Peacock!

NBC’s Peacock has greenlit a new series based on the bestselling young adult novel, One of Us is Lying.

The newly minted streamer has tapped Dario Madrona to serve as showrunner for the forthcoming series. Madrona is likely best known for co-creating Netflix’s high school drama juggernaut, Elite.

According to Variety, the streamer has ordered eight episodes of the series to start. In addition, the pilot episode has already been produced. It features a script written by Erica Saleh, with Jennifer Morrison serving as both director and producer. Other producers on the project include John Sacchi and Matt Groesch.

In front of the camera, the forthcoming series adaptation stars Marianly Tejada (The Purge), Cooper van Grootel (Go!), Annalisa Cochrane (Into the Dark: Pure), Chibuikem Uche (Ghost Draft), Barrett Carnahan (Grown-is), Jessica McLeod (You Me Her), and Melissa Collazo (Swamp Thing).

Based on the bestselling book by author Karen M. McManus, One of Us is Lying focuses on five high school students, all of whom walk into detention together. Only four of the five make it out alive though. When everyone winds up a suspect following the events of detention, it soon becomes clear that everyone has also got secrets they’re trying to hide.

Shortly after the news broke, McManus took to her Instagram page to share the latest developments with regards to the series adaptation with fans far and wide.

“Since we are living in such uncertain times, I can’t yet tell you when the show will air, or how/where International viewers will be able to watch. So there’s a lot more to come,” promised the author.
