Photos from Once Upon a Time season 7, episode 2, “A Pirate’s Life,” tease Emma Swan’s return. But is that all they give away?
Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some, but for fans of Once Upon a Time‘s Captain Swan, it just might be a lucky day. In new photos from “A Pirate’s Life,” Jennifer Morrison returns as Emma Swan and bids farewell to the series.
What does her untold story reveal for Henry and Hook? Let’s play a game of, “Describe What’s Happening in These Photos!” and find out.
Emma Swan and Captain Hook are having a baby
Okay, I guess couples can touch each other’s stomachs whenever they want to without it meaning anything. But this definitely means something, right?
The nervous, yet happy twinkle in their eyes. Emma holding his hand flat against her stomach. All the signs are there! Baby Captain Swan!
While this is exciting, it is also devastating to think about in context. With Emma out of the picture for the rest of the season, what does that mean for Hook’s child? Is this new curse keeping him from his child? Are the child and Emma gone forever? Will Hook ever be happy again? Will we?
Adam Horowitz commented at New York Comic Con this past weekend that Hook’s relationship with hope is a new adventure. And while the happy endings are not erased, an ending leads to a beginning. A sad, lonely beginning.
Let’s not dwell, there is plenty more happy to come!
Emma and Henry reunite
In a clip released at Comic Con, Hook gives Emma a magic bottle that will contain a message. Is this the moment where we find out what that message is?
This looks like the moment Henry and Emma see each other for the first time.
Just like every beginning has an end, every hello has a goodbye.
But before they part Henry and Emma share a few moments together. In the first, it looks as if Emma have that chat from the bottle.
And then, perhaps they solve this little mystery. Why are there TWO Hooks? The possibly-real Hook, on the left, looks completely unfazed by this series of events. Emma also seems fine with how things are turning out — and who could blame her?
And finally, in this photo it looks as though Emma and Henry are enjoying a wonderful sight. Perhaps the two Hooks are performing a classic pirate drinking song for their amusement.
Hook and Henry
Andrew West has only been around for one episode, and yet I cannot help but feel a swell of emotions seeing grownup Henry hug Hook. These two characters need to become best friends in Hyperion Heights ASAP.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Emma and Hook share a moment
Beyond the pregnancy news, Hook and Emma get to steal a few moments together in whatever world this is.
What do you think is going on with these two? Are you excited for Emma to return?
