We attended the Los Angeles premiere of Once Upon a Time last night and boy are you guys in for a treat! Frozen lovers or not!
When it was announced/teased last season that Elsa from Frozen would be making an entrance on Once Upon a Time, there was definitely a mixed reaction. We were kind of excited, kind of dreading it, and totally unsure how it would play out on the show’s fourth season, but after seeing the premiere we have to say we’re really excited to see where this is going!
Although some of you might be over Frozen, you can be thankful that none of the songs make an appearance in the episode. Instead there is a musical homage to a completely different Disney movie, and it’s one that is going to make you go “awwwwwwwww!”
So, what’s awesome about the premiere? Here’s a spoiler free review of what we thought stood out!
The ‘Frozen’ elements don’t overpower the other story arcs in the episode.
We know this was a concern for those of you who didn’t like the movie as much as others, but fear not: There’s still plenty of other drama going on! From relationship drama to new plans cooking, this premiere has everything you’d need to get excited for the rest of the season.
The ships are strong with this one.
Several of the show’s ships (canon, not fanon) are given at least a scene or two. Some are heartbreaking, others are extremely satisfying, and some just want you to kill one half of the ship. You can figure out which is which.
The ballroom scene from the trailer is well worth the wait.
When we saw that Belle and Rumple would be dancing in a ballroom in the classic Beauty and the Beast outfits we got extremely excited, and the execution in the premiere is fantastic. Every fan is going to love this one.
Anna and Sven adorable.
And yes we mean the reindeer, but Kristoff is adorable too. Much like the movie, Anna is extremely likable and totally socially awkward, and we love it. This, in addition to Sven actually making it into the premiere, makes the Frozen aspect actually kind of hysterical. Despite several animated characters making it into the premiere (not Olaf, though) the balance of Anna and Sven being adorable made it all okay for us.
The story book is going to be huge this season.
For those of you wondering about what this book is about, this season is going to delve deeper into the origins of the book and a certain character is determined to find out more.
And last but not least, the quote that we loved the most from the entire premiere: “It’s time for villains to get their happy endings.”
‘Once Upon a Time’ premieres this Sunday on ABC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern
