Nina Dobrev is making her grand return to television!
Deadline reports that Vampire Diaries alumn Nina Dobrev has officially been cast in a new comedy at CBS.
The new multi-camera series, called Fam centers around a woman named Clem and what transpires after her younger half-sister Shannon ends up moving in with her and her fiancee to get away from their father.
Dobrev, who is headlining the new comedy, will be playing Clem on the new series. Her character is described as “deeply funny, quick-witted and outspoken.” The synopsis also stresses that while she had a bit of a wild youth, she’s worked hard to get her life on track as an adult.
Shannon’s arrival comes with a bit of a catch for Clem, who’s engaged to the love of her life, Jay. In order to distance herself from her father and his ways, Clem has been telling everyone that he’s been dead for years. That lie is on the brink of unravelling after her younger half-sister (played by Odessa Aldon) ends up moving in with them.
It sounds like Fam is intending to serve up equal parts family drama along with a healthy dose of comedy.
As for Dobrev, fans of The Vampire Diaries have seen what she can do in the realm of supernatural dramas, but it’ll be fun to see her flex her funny bone for a change in a sitcom!
