Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem could soon be playing Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnaz in a brand new biopic about the iconic Hollywood couple.
According to Deadline, actors Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are both currently in talks to take on the roles of I Love Lucy stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
If they sign on, Kidman and Bardem would be portraying the iconic Hollywood couple as part of a brand new Amazon Studios film spearheaded by Aaron Sorkin.
Titled Being the Ricardos, the forthcoming biopic sets out to explore the relationship between Ball and Arnaz who, on top of starring in the iconic sit-com, I Love Lucy, were also married in real life for 20 years.
Interestingly, Sorkin’s biopic is set to hone in on one specific week of production for I Love Lucy in which Ball and Arnaz find themselves facing a crisis that could wind up ruining their careers, while also facing another crisis that could seriously affect their marriage.
Kidman’s involvement with the project is especially interesting given that for quite some time, it seemed as though Cate Blanchett would be assuming the role of the comedic icon. Blanchett was first attached to the role of Lucille Ball back in 2017.
For his part, Sorkin will both be penning the script as well as serving as director on Being the Ricardos. Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect the film to debut.
