Ryan Murphy announced on his Twitter that he’s happy to be adding two new guest stars to his show, The New Normal, in the coming weeks, both of which have connections to NBC.
The stars are Nicole Richie and George Takei, best known for their roles on The Simple Life and Star Trek respectively. Richie at the moment is working on NBC’s new reality show, Fashion Star, where she is a mentor. Takei was also on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.
It’s possible that both celebrities could guest star as themselves, seeing as Nicole Richie is a fashion icon and George Takei is openly gay and a supporter of gay rights, which would work nicely into the themes of the show. However, no information has yet to be released about how many episodes each star will appear in and what characters they will play.
Takei at the moment is headlining the new musical Allegiance at the Old Globe Theatre, which is inspired by his experiences as a Japanese-American during World War II. Nicole Richie is currently working on the second season of Fashion Star, where she acts as a celebrity mentor and judge.
The New Normal, about a gay couple who decide to have a baby through a surrogate, airs on Tuesdays on NBC.
What do you think of the decision to have Nicole Richie and George Takei as guest stars? Interesting or unimpressive? Leave your thoughts below.
