The LA Lakers front office will serve as inspiration for a brand new workplace comedy coming down the pipeline at Netflix.
On Friday (June 18), Netflix announced that has given a straight to series order for an untitled half hour workplace comedy inspired by the front office of the LA Lakers.
Per the untitled series official longline, the workplace comedy is inspired by the personal and professional dynamic between the family owners and the front office team, who work together to run one of the most iconic franchise in all of sports.
At the heart of the series is Eliza Reed— the fictional team governor. The series will follow along as Eliza navigates NBA ownership and family drama with her best friend by her side.
Behind the camera, the series hails from Modern Family vet Elaine Ko, who is set to serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the untitled LA Lakers workplace comedy.
Other executive producers on the project include Mindy Kaling, Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis of the Lakers, and Howard Klein. In addition, Jordan Rambis will serve as a producer on the series.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the workplace comedy inspired by the front office of the LA Lakers debut via Netflix.
