Gyllenhaal bares all: 8 movies to watch for more naked Jake Gyllenhaal

By Aaron Locke | Edited by Donya Abramo

Jake Gyllenhaal slipped into his birthday suit for his new movie Velvet Buzzsaw and the internet went wild. Here are the eight movies you need to watch next for more naked Jake Gyllenhaal.

Sure, Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most famous and talented actors of his generation. You already know that. With an Oscar nomination under his belt and a career full of gems that show what an engaging and versatile actor he is, Gyllenhaal has morphed into a favorite among audiences of all ages.

'

After the recent announcement that he will join the MCU in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the Gyllen-following is only growing larger by the day! For just a moment, let’s celebrate one of Jake Gyllenhaal’s other attributes: his rockin’ bod.

The internet lit up last week after the release of Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw. Among the cast of characters in the LA art world that the movie centers on, a nude Jake Gyllenhaal appeared! Not just once, not even twice, but he was nude several times throughout the movie. Images of Jake’s chiseled body and perky butt spread across the internet, reminding us all that not only is Jake Gyllenhaal talented, but he’s also hot as hell.

Luckily for us, Jake has made it a pretty regular occurrence to appear butt-ass naked on the silver screen. Thank you for your service, Mr. Gyllenhaal! As fans of his acting, I think it’s only fair that we also consider ourselves fans of his butt. So, with Velvet Buzzsaw fresh in your mind, venture back in time and brush up on all the times Jake Gyllenhaal went nude.

‘Brokeback Mountain’

In the role that earned him an Oscar nomination, Jake Gyllenhaal does more than just play a cowboy, make out with Heath Ledger, and marry Anne Hathaway! In classic Jake fashion, he bares it all in a scene by the river as he washes his clothes in the running water. Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain was a landmark mainstream gay movie in 2005, earning eight nominations and winning three. You may remember the devastating moment when Best Picture went to Crash, a far inferior flick. You know what else Crash didn’t have? Jake Gyllenhaal’s butt.

‘Jarhead’

Like a Disney Channel star rebelling against their family friendly image, Jarhead — released in the same year as Brokeback Mountain — helped mark Jake Gyllenhaal’s departure from safe on screen roles to more adult performances. In Jarhead, Gyllenhaal plays an enlisted Marine who endures hellish training only to be deployed for the Gulf War.

War movies are pretty take ’em or leave ’em, for me, but Jarhead is worth enduring for naked Jake Gyllenhaal. The most notable scene is at Christmas where Jake ends up dancing in nothing but a Santa hat. When Shakira sang “hips don’t lie” I don’t think she was talking about Jake, but after a certain scene in Jarhead, you may think differently.

‘Love & Other Drugs’

Naked Jake Gyllenhaal movies

If you’ve not seen Love & Other Drugs, you’re in for a treat. This romantic drama prominently features a very naked Jake Gyllenhaal who uses sex as a way of avoiding his emotional damage. Things get complicated when he begins working as a pharmaceutical salesman and falls in love with Maggie, a woman living with Parkinson’s. If Love & Other Drugs sounds like a bad movie, it’s because it is — mostly.

Despite some of the nonsensical, borderline offensive plot points, Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal have enough chemistry and naturalism to make Love & Other Drugs worth checking out. If you can stomach the over-the-top melodrama, you’re in for several sex montages where a naked Jake Gyllenhaal gets awful comfy on screen.

‘Everest’

Unless you’re like me — committed to seeing everything Jake Gyllenhaal appears in, no matter how bad — then you probably didn’t see Everest. Why would you?! I mean, seriously, is anyone clamoring for more movies about people stranded in the cold and slow who slowly freeze to death? That didn’t stop this attempted Oscar bait (no such luck…) from making its way into theaters in 2015.

The good news is that you don’t have to endure the entire movie to get a look at a naked Jake Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal’s character is introduced in the first act of the movie showing up in his birthday suit and a winter hat. After the team gears up to climb Everest, the movie goes downhill…or uphill, depending on how you look at it.

‘Nocturnal Animals’

Tom Ford’s 2016 movie Nocturnal Animals marked his highly anticipated follow-up to his 2009 film A Single Man. Starring Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, and more, Nocturnal Animals should have been an art house hit. The end result, however, is a mixed bag.

In that mixed bag, you’ll find a twisted revenge story, an odd commentary on art and truth, Amy Adams playing a wealthy art gallery owner, and Jake Gyllenhaal as her novelist ex-husband with a penchant for long, melancholic showers. Tom Ford included enough naked or half-naked Jake Gyllenhaal to make Nocturnal Animals a delight for fans like us.

‘Demolition’

Let’s keep the train rolling on naked shower scenes with Jean-Marc Vallée’s Demolition. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a widowed man still grieving his wife, the film is one of Vallée weaker directorial efforts but it’s still worth seeing. Arguably the best thing about Demolition is that Jake looks good the whole movie. This isn’t a survivalist tale or a western, it’s just about a guy going through some shit. Lucky for us, he looks good doing it.

‘Southpaw’

For those that want to revisit beefed up Jake Gyllenhaal, look no further than Southpaw. Featuring what is probably Jake’s angriest role ever in a film from director Antoine Fuqua, Jake plays a boxer loses his career and his daughter after his wife’s death.

If you’re sensing a theme between this and Demolition, you’re not far off. They also both feature several gratuitous shots of naked Jake Gyllenhaal, in the shower, in the boxing ring, in bed, the list goes on…Jake definitely worked hard to bulk up for the role and he doesn’t let that work go to waste. What a charitable man!

‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’

Listen, no one wants to forget about Prince of Persia more than me, except maybe Jake Gyllenhaal himself. This ill-conceived action fantasy movie may have grossed a whopping $336 million at the box office, but don’t let that convince you its good. I cannot and will not even begin to explain the plot of this movie to you, but I will say that it gave us plenty of long looks at those Gyllen-tiddies!
