I stumbled upon Julianna Keyes new novel My Roommate’s Girl by chance, and I’m so glad that I did. This is a novel that all fans of new adult romance should be checking out!
About ‘My Roommate’s Girl’ by Julianna Keyes:
The day a judge gave me the choice between going to prison or going to college was the day I vowed to stop stealing. Never again would I see something beautiful and beyond my means and take it, just because I wanted it. Just because I could.
When I moved in with Jerry, it was with good intentions. I needed a place to live while I got my degree, and he needed a roommate.
Then I saw Aster.
Blond and beautiful, good, pure, sweet, smart…and Jerry’s girlfriend. She was everything I never thought I could have. Except…maybe I can.
So I put a plan into action. Yeah, I’d probably go to hell, but it would be worth it. I wanted Aster. I wanted her yesterday and tomorrow and every possible way.
But you know what they say.
Be careful what you wish for…because you just might get it.
‘My Roommate’s Girl’ by Julianna Keyes review:
Julianna Keyes is a new adult romance author you should be checking out! This was my first time reading one of Julianna’s novels and I’m always a little nervous to dedicate time to different author when my TBR is already pretty long. But I’m really glad that I decided to check her out! My Roommate’s Girl was such a fun read, has twists I’ve never seen before in the new adult category, and is really well written!
My Roommate’s Girl is kind of a cross between new adult, romantic comedy, with darker twists. Some readers might have a hard time getting into the idea of Aidan’s obsession with getting his roommate Jerry and his girlfriend Aster to break up. With his criminal background he’s not afraid to try some devious tactics but if readers can get past his mistakes they will grow to love Aidan as the story goes on.
On the flip side, readers might love Aster initially only to be shocked once they really get to know who she is. The novel has some amazing twists, especially when it comes to Aster. I don’t want to give them away but just trust me when I say that these characters are worth putting the time into getting to know.
With so many obstacles in their way, it takes a while for this couple to really get together. But it’s totally worth the wait because their chemistry is practically combustible. Their time as friends is just as enjoyable too and keeps the reader on their toes waiting for the moment when they will finally give in to their lust.
I also enjoyed some of the more adult themes in the novel. Aidan and Aster both have troubled backgrounds and it leaves them with a more serious mentality than some of the other college students around them.
Not only are they worried about their current situations, but they have issues from the past that are always on their mind because of how it could affect their future. Even if these characters are in college, readers that aren’t in college will still find them relatable.
I’m looking forward to reading more of Julianna Keyes and plan on keeping her on my radar!
