Michael B. Jordan is officially taking a leaf out of Best Actress Oscar winner Frances McDormand’s book.
During Sunday night’s 90th Annual Academy Awards, Three Billboards star Frances McDormand notably used her acceptance speech time to highlight the word “inclusion riders.”
The shout out caused the term to trend on Twitter, after which we were all clued into why the term is so important.
As we explained the morning after the Oscars, an inclusion rider is something an actor can put in their contract to make sure the project they’re working on exercises gender and racial equality in those they hire.
Though we’re sure many actors took McDormand’s words to heart, Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan took things one step further.
In a new post via his Instagram account, Jordan revealed that he’ll be adding an inclusion rider for all projects he produces at his company, Outlier Society.
“In support of the women and men who are leading this fight, I will be adopting the Inclusion Rider for all projects produced by my company Outlier Society,” wrote Jordan. “I’ve been privileged to work with powerful women & persons of color throughout my career and it’s Outlier’s mission to continue to create for talented individuals going forward,”

In addition to the announcement, Jordan also pointed his followers to a rider drafted by University of Southern California’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative so they could read up on the rider further.
Overall, Jordan’s commitment to ensuring his production company adheres to inclusion riders going forward is a step in the right direction, and we hope others are equally inspired by McDormand’s speech to follow suit.
