Pink Panther will soon be making its way back on to the big screen.
According to Deadline, MGM is currently int he process of developing a brand new live action/CGI hybrid adaptation of Pink Panther.
The studio has already found the perfect director to helm the forthcoming adaptation in Jeff Fowler. For his part, Fowler seems especially well suited to bring the iconic cartoon character to life on the big screen like never before. The director’s most recent credits include helming Paramount’s 2020 live-action hybrid take on Sonic the Hedgehog starring Jim Carrey and James Marsden.
Fowler will be directing from a script written by Chris Bremner. Plot details for the upcoming live-action/CGI hybrid movie are scarce, but the project is being pegged as a “modern reimagining.”

First introduced in 1963, the fictional animated character originally appeared in the credit sequences for the Pink Panther, a series that found Peter Sellers playing a French detective named Jacques Clouseau.
It wasn’t until a few years later that the memorable cat’s popularity ended up giving birth to a spinoff animated cartoon shorts, which eventually found a home on NBC.
MGM’s forthcoming take isn’t the first time in recent history that the Pink Panther has slunk back on to the silver screen.
Back in 2006, director Shawn Levy helmed an adaptation which found Steve Martin starring as the famed Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect MGM’s Pink Panther adaptation to hit the big screen.
