Read the description for the ninth episode of Merlin‘s fifth series, to learn whether or not Merlin has stopped Morgana’s latest ploy to destroy Camelot yet.

The verdict is in, and no! Morgana still has Gwen under her control, and Merlin is running out of time if he is to save her. Can he do it?

Cultfix has released the description of episode 5×09, which reads:

Merlin knows he must act fast before Morgana’s twisted control over Gwen gets further out of hand.

But only the most powerful magic can save the Queen and this will not be easy, even for Merlin. As the High Priestess tightens her grip on Camelot, one thing is clear – she will not give up her puppet without a fight.

Colin Morgan is Merlin, Bradley James is Arthur, Angel Coulby is Gwen, Katie McGrath is Morgana, Richard Wilson is Gaius and John Hurt is the voice of the Great Dragon. Tom Hopper, Rupert Young, and Eoin Macken return as The Knights of the Round Table.

Are you happy that Guinevere’s new storyline and her refound (if twisted) friendship with Morgana is still running at this point in the series? Don’t forget that after this episode, only four more episodes will be left of series 5 (and who knows if there’ll be a sixth year!), so if Merlin doesn’t save Gwen soon maybe she really will end up playing a part in Arthur’s ultimate downfall?!

Merlin 5×09 airs Saturday, December 1 at 19:50 GMT on BBC One.

Also check out the promotional images for Saturday’s episode “A Lesson in Vengeance,” which were released earlier today. The promo has also been released, as well as a short featurette video featuring interviews with some of the cast members and a brief sneak peek from the episode.

Hypable’s Merlin podcast Talks of Camelot is discussing each new episode of series 5 as it airs, and you can expect the breakdown of the shocking “The Dark Tower” soon!
