The musical adaptation of iconic teen comedy Mean Girls has landed an impressive cast of Broadway veterans.
Mean Girls is headed for the stage, following in the footsteps of other iconic teen-movies-turned-musicals such as Legally Blonde, Amélie and Bring it On.
The Broadway hopeful is lining up an all-star cast, led by Erika Henningsen (Les Miserables) as Cady, who was played by Lindsay Lohan in the 2004 movie. This news comes via Variety.
Kerry Butler, who was nominated for a Tony for her performance in Xanadu, will play Tina Fey’s character Ms. Norbury, while Kinky Boots actress Taylor Louderman will play the infamous Regina George.

Barrett Wilbert Weed from Heathers: The Musical plays Janis; Ashley Park, Kate Rockwell, Grey Henson and Rick Younger also star.
Directed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon) with a book by Tina Fey (who also penned the movie) and music by 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt composer Jeff Richmond, the Mean Girls musical seems destined for success. It will premiere this fall in Washington, D.C., and has its sights set on Broadway.
The Mean Girls musical is produced by Stuart Thompson and SNL‘s Lorne Michaels. Its initial run at The National Theatre in D.C. will be from October 31-December 3.
