The first Marvel’s Inhumans trailer has been released, revealing family drama and one very good doggy.
The Inhumans trailer begins with an ominous voiceover from the series’ presumed villain, Maximus (Game of Thrones‘ Iwan Rheon). Unhappy with the confines of life in the Inhuman city of Attilan, Maximus foments a rebellion against his brother Black Bolt (Anson Mount).
The trailer peaks in a showdown between Maximus and Black Bolt. With the coup in full swing, Maximus challenges his brother to use his deadly voice against him.
Black Bolt seems about to take up the challenge, breaking his long tradition of silence. But the potentially deadly, Lion King-esque confrontation is avoided by… well, you have to see it to believe it.
Yes, the first Inhumans trailer offers our first look at Lockjaw, the teleporting Inhuman dog! Lockjaw’s intervention lands Black Bolt on Earth — Hawaii, to be exact — where the Inhuman king immediately faces a bit of culture shock.
Amidst images of other Inhumans, including Queen Medusa (Serinda Swan), Crystal (Isabelle Cornish), and Karnak (Ken Leung) the Inhumans trailer reminds fans of its special place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Filmed with IMAX cameras, the first two episodes of the new series will debut in theaters on Sept. 1. Inhumans will then return to the small screen, airing on ABC on Sept. 29.

Culminating in more rhetoric from Maximus (he’s practically channeling Braveheart, here) the trailer also shows us hints of Black Bolt’s struggle with his necessary silence. Trapped by unfamiliar forces on Earth, the Inhuman king’s lips part — but will he release his awesome power?
Probably! But we’ll have to tune in to the Inhumans to know for sure.
Marvel’s Inhumans airs on Fridays at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
