Mike Colter announced the release date of Marvel’s Luke Cage at the premiere of Daredevil season 2.
Speaking to Marvel.com, Colter reveals that the first season of Luke Cage will hit Netflix on September 30, 2016.

Mike Colter originated the role of Luke Cage in Marvel’s second Netflix collaboration, Jessica Jones, in which Cage has a complicated sexual relationship with Jones. (“Complicated,” perhaps, being an understatement.) Actor and character will strike out on their own when Luke Cage premieres in the Fall — and Colter promises that fans will not be disappointed in what his series has to offer.
“It’s gonna be action-packed from beginning to the very end,” he says. “I will see the fans on September 30.”
The Luke Cage premiere date fits another puzzle piece into Netflix and Marvel’s plans for an eventual combined-hero series, The Defenders. Luke Cage will be followed by Marvel’s Iron Fist, focusing on the Asian-powered hero Danny Rand. Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones is all but confirmed to have been cast as Rand, though Marvel has not yet made an official announcement.
Meanwhile, fans can feast on Daredevil season 2, which premieres on Netflix on March 18. Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson return as Matt Murdock, Karen Page, and Foggy Nelson, and Rosario Dawson reprises her role as Clare Temple. The highly-anticipated new season will introduce fan-favorite characters — and survivors of terrible film adaptations — The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Elektra (Elodie Yung.)
