The end is near for Netflix’s Lucifer.
Lucifer has officially announced that it will wrap things up with a fifth and final season on Netflix.
The series, which originally debuted on Fox back in January of 2016, took to Twitter to break the news to fans far and wide.
As sad as it is to learn that Lucifer is coming to an end, it’s clear the series and all those involved with it don’t want the ending to be a somber affair.
“Thanks to the lucifans, #lucifer’s story will come to an end the way it should,” tweeted the series’ official twitter account. “The fifth and final season is coming to @netflix.”
Series star Tom Ellis, who plays the man in question, was on hand to help break the news in the form of a joyous short video.
In the clip, you can see Ellis celebrating over the fact that the series is gearing up to go out on their own terms, something that will hopefully comfort fans of the show.
“I’ll see you in hell,” says Ellis before the video ends with a promo image announcing the forthcoming season.

Finally, series co-showrunner Joe Henderson also chimed in. In his tweet, Henderson made reference to the power of the show’s passionate fanbase, noting that they are the reason Lucifer found new life on Netflix after it was cancelled by Fox in 2018.
“The fans brought is back to life. Now we get to finish our story on our terms. Can’t wait for you guys to see what’s in store!”
