About the Literary Young Adult subscription box service
Quarterly.co is a subscription box service company that offers all types of boxes, ranging from travel to food to geekery and beyond! Each box ships out once a quarter, giving you three months to enjoy your goodies before receiving your next round.
The Literary Young Adult subscription box service from Quarterly.co combines a passion for YA novels with a love for fun, bookish goodies. Each box features a new YA author and a copy of their upcoming first release. The box also features two additional YA novels, hand-picked by the box’s featured author as complementary titles to box’s featured book. The Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co is then rounded out with a few fun goodies that book lovers won’t be able to help but enjoy.
In addition to the fact that a single author curates the novels in the box, one of the other things that sets the Quarterly.co subscription box apart from other boxes is the fact that it also contains handwritten notes and some exclusive content straight from the featured author themselves. We’re talking about a look into the author’s mind. Interesting insights on what they were thinking while they were writing the book you’re about to read. The Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co brings you closer to talented authors than you’ve ever been before.
Instead of shipping monthly, the Literary Young Adult subscription box ships out once a quarter. Its less frequent shipping schedule will definitely make you look forward to each upcoming box even more while also giving you ample time to read the three books from the previous box. (Although, if you end up liking Quarterly.co’s subscription box as much as I think you will, you might be dying for it to come more often.)
Each box costs $50 plus shipping, which is quite a bargain for all of the amazing goodies you’ll be getting. Oh, and good news for international YA fans: This subscription box service offers international shipping!
Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co review
Being a book fan myself, I can’t help but want to get my hands on and read as many books as I possibly can. So, of course when I heard about a subscription box that offered not one book but three books, I knew I had to check it out.
My first impression of the box was that it was super cute. My Literary Young Adult box arrived with the cutest packing tape wrapped around it. Inside was a simple but fun sticker that said “Packaged with radness in L.A.” Sure, these things really have nothing to do with the contents of the box itself, but they’re small touches that give the box a more personal feeling to it.
The items in the box that first caught my eye were the signed book plate and the note from Beth Revis, the box’s featured author. It’s a short and sweet letter that gives a really wonderful introduction to her novel, A World Without You, and a bit of context for the rest of the items in the box (and why she chose them). I’m always fascinated by the items that are included in subscription boxes (and why they’re there), so I love reading about how each item has a purpose.
The main focus of the Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co is most definitely the novels. What I found interesting was the fact that the box was packed in a way that buried the featured novel at the bottom of the box, with the two related novels (Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer and The End or Something Like That by Ann Dee Ellis) sitting on top of it. I’m not sure if it was on purpose, but the order of the books made for a sort of fun build up to seeing the featured novel. By discovering the related novels first, I had a better idea of what the featured novel would be like (not to mention more excitement for it).
In terms of the novels themselves, I’m really excited to crack each one of them open. They all seem to be themed around mental health and dealing with personal issues. That’s one topic that has always interested me, but I’ve been hesitant to dive in (just because it’s a sensitive subject and I hadn’t yet found the right books to start with). But the fact that all of these books were hand-selected (the new novel by Quarterly.co and the complementary novels by Beth Revis herself), gives me faith that they’re all going to be compelling reads.
And, of course, what would a good literary subscription box be without a few fun goodies thrown in? Instead of being just literature-related items, the cute gifts this box offers are instead directly related to the upcoming novel itself. The first item is a super cute blank note card that’s shaped like Emily Dickinson. The package also includes stickers with fun Emily Dickinson quotables. The second gift in the box is a red cable photo holder. I can’t wait to take it to work with me and put it up at my desk. Since I haven’t read A World Without You yet, I unfortunately am not entirely sure of the items’ context but Beth Revis’ welcome letter gives me a relatively good idea.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that I’m a fan of the Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co. I love the idea of an author curating a literary subscription box and there’s definitely enough in this box to tide anyone over until the next one. If you’re the type of person who loves getting inside the mind of authors and getting gifted by them, you need to check out this particular YA novel subscription box service.
Full disclosure: I received a free July Literary Young Adult subscription box from Quarterly.co in exchange for my review on the site.
