After the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale, “The Good, The Bad and the Cuddly,” there appeared to be another empty seat on the Waverider.
Warning: This story contains major spoilers for the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale.
The Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale saw the team fleeing to the Wild West to hide out from Mallus (whose name is actually pronounced like “malice,” who knew?) alongside Jonah Hex.
But when Mallus — who takes over Damien Darhk when he and Ray attempt to rescue Nora — sends Caesar, Blackbeard and Freydis and their respective armies to collect the totems, the Legends send out a call for help.
This call is answered by Ava, Jax, Helen of Troy and Kuasa. They arrive to support the Legends while they figure out how to unite their totems to create a pure being to defeat Mallus. Pulling a move that only Legends can, the Legends manifest a giant Beebo that fights and defeats Mallus.
As clean up of the large battle happens with the help of the Time Bureau, Amaya decides to return to Zambesi. Nate brings her home, but Amaya refuses the memory eraser. Nate lets her go, and Amaya seems to accept her fate as protector of her village.
This seems like Amaya’s departure from the Legends and actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers’s exit from the show, much like several Legends before her this season. However, EW reports that Richardson-Sellers has not departed the show; she will be a series regular in season 4.
It seems she won’t be able to stay away from her surrogate family — and Nate — for very long.
Up in the air, though, is the fate of Rip Hunter, who seemed to sacrifice himself at the beginning of the finale to give the Legends time to escape Mallus. Rip has disappeared into time previously, though, so it would not be surprising to see him survive. There is no news about Arthur Darvill’s contract status for season 4, however.
