Was that Mandy Moore voicing Rapunzel in Kingdom Hearts 3’s Tangled scenes? (Updated January 2019)
Speculation over Moore’s involvement has been around for months. In the trailer for the KH3’s Kingdom of Corona world released in November 2018, Sora is seen interacting and fighting alongside Flynn, who is voiced by original actor Zachary Levi in the game, and Rapunzel. Take a look:
Rapunzel argues with herself about going back to her tower, and mimics some of the most iconic shots from the 2010 film.
Moore voiced Aerith in the 2002 Kingdom Hearts, but was replaced by Mena Suvari in 2005’s Kingdom Hearts 2.
So, is Moore back for KH3? The answer is no — Hypable has confirmed that Mandy Moore did not record dialogue for Rapunzel in Kingdom Hearts 3. Instead, Rapunzel was voiced by Kelsey Lansdowne.
The information is shocking because Kingdom Hearts 3’s Rapunzel sounds exactly like Mandy Moore! However, the game’s credits confirm that it was Lansdowne, not Moore, behind the scenes.
Hayden Panettiere, the voice of Kairi, is another missing actor for Kingdom Hearts 3. That role went to, Alyson Stoner, who’s taken up the mantle in the past.
Sora voice actor Haley Joel Osment reprises the role of Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3, which should come as no surprise to fans of the series, as he has returned for every installment of the Kingdom Hearts series thus far.
David Gallagher is back as Riku as well. Like Joel Osment, Gallagher has reprised the role of Riku in every Kingdom Hearts game thus far.
Kingdom Hearts 3 was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Janurary 29, 2019. Read our review of the game!
